Sustainable buildings come in all shapes and sizes and act as examples for future businesses that need to stay in touch with the reality of global warming. The Eneco company shares its vision of sustainability in its new Rotterdam Headquarter. Amsterdam-based Hofman Dujardin Architects and Fokkema & Partners collaborated to design this 25,000 square meter structure and offer efficient work spaces based on a healthy work style. The Eneco Headquarter Rotterdam uses solar power, natural light and interior greenery giving fresh oxygen to construct a dynamic environment for all the people working here.
DesignRulz showed us how this 14-floor high building provides open working and meeting spaces, powered by south-facing sunlight collectors and welcoming the 2,100 workers in one spectacular office building. The ground floor is divided between a large light-filled atrium, an espresso bar, a restaurant and meeting spaces. Three staircases lead up to the next floor, where colorful work “islands” guide each worker to the needed zone. Energy-saving LED lights, recycling office waste and even the showers encouraging people to cycle to work have their own place in improving the people’s work experience while lowering the carbon footprint. Colors and textures in light-flooded spaces, zones for socialization and a cluster of sustainable features make this building a perfectly balanced office building, don’t you think?
